*Dispute Resolution

The gTLD-MoU uses a uniform procedure for resolving disputes concerning domain names, including trademark and other intellectual property issues. This dispute resolution mechanism includes mediation, optional arbitration (specified by applicant at time of domain name registration) and Administrative Domain Name Challenge Panels (ACPs). The intent is to offer an efficient and inexpensive means of dispute resolution without supplanting or interfering with the jurisdiction of national courts or the rights of Internet users to have resort to the courts.

The Policy Oversight Committee (POC) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) have jointly cooperated in the development of the gTLD-MoU domain name dispute resolution framework.

For an overview (including a  flowchart of dispute resolution options), see our "Presentation on Domain Name Dispute Resolution under the gTLD-MoU" available either in HTML or PowerPoint 95 or 97 formats.
