The IAB has now concluded its discussion of the appointment of
two members to the Policy Oversight Committee established under
the recently signed DNS Memorandum of Understanding. The list
of nominees and the procedure followed are attached below. (One
nominee, Bill Manning, withdrew after this list was published.)
We were delighted to have such a good list of nominees, but this
made the final choice very difficult as we were limited to two
appointments. As announced, we looked principally at technical
expertise, combined with international experience.
It should be noted that we have made these appointments before
the POC has been formally established and in the absence of a
precise job description for its members. It should also be noted
that the appointees are expected to act as individual experts, not
as delegates of the IAB or the IETF.
The IAB wishes to sincerely thank its appointees to the IAHC,
Geoff Huston and Hank Nussbacher, who have given much of their
time and energy to the IAHC and recently to the interim POC. We
also thank the other candidates for their willingness to serve,
and all IETF members who nominated or commented on candidates.
The IAB appointees are
Patrik Faltstrom (3 year term)
Rob Austein (1 year term)

Brian Carpenter (IAB Chair)
