I agree, more iTLDs could mean more confusion. If I am not mistaken the
need for some form of directory was the consensus of opinion on the IETF
list. Now the IAHC has been charged with increasing iTLDs and
competition without fragmenting interoperability, are directories to be
discussed here?

competing) companies requires the implementation of intellectual
property protection measures (policies and mechanisms). For example,
within a legal jurisdiction a court could ban the use of a
trade(domain)name being used by a rival company. To flout the judgement
the rival company may register, either directly or via an affiliated
company, outside the jurisdiction, in a new iTLD using the offending
trade(domain)name and continue trading. Conversely, just because one
company has secured one TLD does not necessarily prohibit another from
using a similar name in another TLD. Are such matters to be discussed
here?
If it would help, I could write a brief outline of the various elements
we had to consider before our facility was designated by the G7 Group of
Nations Information Society.
