I actually don't believe standalone monopoly registries  would be an
effective solution.  What we are talking about for standalone monopoly
registries is a license to steal.  You get someone locked in to your
registry and you can charge whatever you want, and make policies as you
wish.  Your only viable option would be to change registries which would
mean giving up your domainname.

All new iTLDs should be shared.  And .com should be shared also.  If new
tld's are created over shared registries to break up the NSI monopoly
and the trademark issues, I see no compelling reason to deal with
creating new standalone NSI-like monopolies.  It just makes no sense.
