Wrong. InterNIC is a contract function. NSI is a government(US)

So??? They also have knowledge and capabilities noone else has. We
don't like their policies, but the real problem is they have been poorly
managed by their NSF handlers.

And Bob, do you think the group you have in mind would operate the
meta-registry themselves. No, likely they would contract it out. This
is what I suggested. The meta-registry WOULD NOT be the protector of
