The only thing wrong with NSI's monopoly, is that they have FORGOTTEN and
DISMISSED what I'd call their CHANNEL (ie: ISP's, WPP's, Corporations, etc).
In a normal business world,
-------------------------------------------------------------------
You make your CHANNEL your ally.
You reward your CHANNEL.
You support them, help make them more profitable, because
in effect, you're driving your own sales with the
CHANNEL that you built.
1. I can not be convinced that NSI is taking it in the shorts by charging
what they are charging, therefore I must assume a profit is happening.
2. Assuming a profit is happening, that means there is room to SHARE THE
PROFIT, without sharing the regisry with those who represent the BULK of
their sales, ie: US.
3. Here's my example:
-----------------------------------------------------------
$100 Retail Price of Domain.
$ 15 Profit that goes to the CHANNEL for each domain, in return, we
agree not to be morons, and take on part of the registration
load/responsibility, similiar to how other professional
CHANNELS operate.
$ 85 STILL goes into NSI's pocket, BUT now you have a happy
Channel that doesn't want to BUST UP, BUST IN, and BREAK UP
the monopoly as its been appointed.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Why does everyone take this wrong?
Answer: Not everyone is in business who is affected by this decision, but
everyone wants to be involved in the decision making.
iahc: Are you planning on discussing this issue, of whether or not a
registry can create a channel?
