RE: Conflict resolution?

While there may have been things "presupposed" and dates targeted
to achieve the "presupposed" items - such as new registries and more
iTLDs, the IAHC was indeed created to look hard at the issues surrounding
those "presuppositions." In fact, regardless of anything presupposed, the
IAHC intends to fairly look at the issues and come to conclusions - which
could mean no new iTLDs or registries.

I just don't believe it's worth worrying about the so-called charter too much.
The iahc will attempt to resolve much, with the help of all the good people
participating on this list, and perhaps many others as well.

Let's just try to keep working on the issues - I believe we will be able to
derive some policies, procedures relative to conclusions that will result.

My opinion is that there will be more registries; there will be more iTLDs;
iTLDs will be shared; all registries will conform to the same policies and
procedures; we will come up with a proposal re trademark/infringement; and
we will probably make more work for the ietf for standards development
in the process.

Also, any dates mentioned shouldn't be worried about too much. They
were done to give a reasonable timeframe to what we were shooting for.
This stuff has been debated for a long time (in Internet time) - it's time
to get moving and resolve some things. That's why we formed the IAHC.

In the end, action speaks louder than words.

I know writing this will cause debate. Not by me however. I'm not
going to defend what I wrote here - and that's why I haven't been too careful
about how I may have chosen my words. We simply need to cut to the chase
and focus on what counts. Let's make something work! What can we
agree on that makes sense and is in the best interests of all Internet users?

Could we see an official comment on this from IAHC. Perhaps something
from the chair? Who actually drafted the charter which, by the way,
includes dates fro award and assignment of new TLD's?
