I still believe what I said above to be correct considering Jon Postel's recent
post:
Request sent to the IANA for a new top level domain will be
filed with the many other requests. There is some considerable
possibility that this particular request will not be granted
(in simple words -- don't plan on it).
Did IANA request that interested parties send in these applications?
I don't think so. Nor is it the impression that the above statement gives.
But if I'm wrong, my apologies.
