Re: Let the games begin

As a sometime denizen of the newdom lists (1 & 2) and sometime
contributor I would like to pose the following adgenda (yes I know it
is late)

1. make the determination as to whether new TLDs are to be created
and if so how many

2. make the determination if they will be general use (as .com) or
limited or restricted use (such as .edu, .net, etc.)

3. determine how these new TLDs will be administered... one central
registry for each or shared use (if the latter how to prevent
multiple assignment of the same name)

4. if the shared model is accepted determine if there would or could be a two tier registry
operation, one to take and process applications and one to operate
the central official list of assigned TLDs and 2LDs within each

5 determine what if any fees would be charged, and by whom, and for
what. Also determine who pays for the central functions and how much

6. determine (since this list appears to have international attention
and participation - hi jon) what kind of organization and what kind
of representation might be necessary or advisable to settle disputes
and provide rule or standards making functuon.
