RE: Hijacked Domain Names?

This still does not alter the fact that unless your TLD's have the authority of the official de-facto root servers which currently, and will presumably continue to be, the officially recognised root servers - your claimed TLD's will be totally useless. The extent of your legal fund is irrelevent - no law firm in the World can enforce thousands of DNS administrators around the world to stop utilising and recognising the existing root servers for authority, and to subsequently start pointing at yours instead - why should they?

You and all of the other dissenters who have sought and failed to achieve an advantage by staking a claim on TLD names before the official process became available, can make as many claims, threats, assertions etc.. as you like in defence of your assumed TLD's - the reality of the matter is that only those that have the eventual authority of the official root servers will be effective. I therefore suggest that you relinquish your existing positions in favor of the objectives of this list which is to considerably extend the number of iTLD's and registries within the existing Internet domain name structure in which you can apply along with the rest of us for the iTLD's of your choice, and upon which IAHC will decide.

As for those that do not recognise the authority or rights of IANA - given that an official organised authority has to be in place to manage the root servers and Internet name space - if it was not IANA who would it be? The fact is that whoever was entrusted with this task would not be agreeable to everyone - particularly considering the international nature of the system. As IANA have historically done an excellent job of administering the existing name space (InterNic is a different matter altogether!) - why seek change for no valid reason. Considering the varied reactions of many in the creation of new iTLD's, registries and the resultant claims upon TLD names - can you imagine what would happen if the charter for the actual root servers was up for discussion as well?

Adrian.

We have federal trademarks on these top level domains I've got copies
of the certificates right here in front of me. We have retained one of
the leading trademark law firms in the country and have paid them a
$250,000 retainer. We have Big Guns and intend to use them.

Still, at this point, I think we will wait for the outcome of the IAHC
deliberations as long as they don't take too long.

Lets all relax and let the boys do their work.
