Re: don heath's comments

Hmmm, domain names have NOTHING to do with making it easier to connect to
the internet -- nor does it HAVE to have anything to do with the ease of
use -- if we really want to make it earier to use AND to eliminate this
whole discussion lets just get rid of the current DNS system and revise
all protocols to use a "natural language mapping" system that could
replace the current DNS system?

# telnet 'compuserve in north america'

Silly? Probably, but I don't think anyone would disagree (unless you're
just after the big bucks) that a system something like that wouldn't make
much more sense *IF* we could revise the entire system from the ground up
-- but since we can't we need to come up with some other way of doing
things.

If people are so concerned that they feel we need "hundreds" of new domain
names why don't we just drop names and use IP? We have bookmarks and
address books these days -- I don't see why it'll be any harder to
remember/use IPs then it will be to do that with a few hundred TLDs?

Personally I'm going to "try" for 2-3 additional iTLDs and *ALL*
non-profit shared registries with one "interally" run meta-registry. And
in a lot of ways I think that is overkill.
