In hopes of adding light as well as heat...

In hopes of adding light as well as heat, I have submitted an an
appreciation on the various methods by which domain names might be
associated-with/assigned-to registries.
Including, I hasten to say, ``I asked for it, I was first, so
I got it''.

While I do recommend a particular course of action, the real purpose
of the proposal is to set out the issues and courses of action so both
proposers and committee members can ``appreciate'' the difficulty
of the problem.

I hope to address one or two other areas in this way: the obvious
constraint is that appreciations are limited to single-dimensional
problems, and don't scale up well to ones with five, six or even
ten dimensions (:-)). So unless the area I wish to appreciate doesn't
interact with others (and allocation doesn't, much), I can't write
a reasonable-length paper.

As I'm claiming that I aim at clarity, I invite suggestions on
how I might be clearer, how to avoid presupposing certain ends
or courses, and so on. I will revist the documemnt at least once
and will try to use your comments to make it better.
