he's absolutely right.  you are required to protect a mark diligently, or
take the chance of losing it.  ask xerox and kleenex what they think of
escalator or yoyo.

keeping people out is also smart business.  the new (u.s. based) 888
tollfree phone system is designed to provide more numbers for general use.
my business immediately signed up the 888 versions of all our 800 numbers
strictly for protection and competitive reasons.  i know many other
businesses doing the same.
