Ever get the feeling that the internet is evolving into a bunch Lemmings?
This Internet council just goes to show you what thoes who would organize
such a vehicle consider experts in the industry. Althoughh I do not
approve the IAHC model it definitely is a better resemblance of what such
an authority should actually look like.
Its incredible how (I could be wrong not knowing these people personally)
governing jurisdictions would be so ignorant as to apoint what seems as
big business quasi leadsership to a council that is to assist in creating
laws for a largely (by comparison) cottage industry.
Maybe the biggest issue is how not to govern the Internet. Currently we
are a divided industry. If we can do a good enough job governing
ourselves in a clean and democratic manner with a speedy and effective
response to the issues we would likely leave most governments in our
vapour trail.
Until we can stop our own Holy War we should work towards removing the
government intervention from our system. It is up for all of us to decide
whether the we want the government trade protection from the big guys at
the expense of our freedom or should we go it alone.
I prefer to go it alone and know that I would have to deal with industrial
allies/axis in the likes of Perry Metzger and Karl Denninger than have to
deal with three months of red tape and B.S. waiting for my CIDR block to
come in while I piss away thousands of dollars per month on a DS circuit I
can not turn on because I have no ip addresses for it (true).
Less regulation... more cooperation. Its time people learned how to run a
business and those in government learned they should'nt.
One day a Lemming will fly... until then he will swim...
