These folks went ahead and spent money on experimental TLDs. The rest of
us didn't spend any money on it. An experiment can fail. Just because
the rest of us decided to wait until there was a more formal method does
not mean we should be penalized (by giving the others an advantage).
I also think the lottery is a bad idea, almost as bad as the FCFS which
all these experimental registries advocate. The best is to draft some
sort of ranking system (0-100 Point System?) for registries and then
accept the highest ranking registry. On ties within a certain fuzzy
factor, we can then use eitehr FCFS (which I think is fair) or lottery.
This is the system I've advocated for a long time now and will submit my
idea formally to IAHC soon. This time before the deadline.
