A question about protocol

Well, it has been a veritable deluge of e-mails in the last few days
since the draft was published (seems a really long time ago!). The
number of responses is one of the reasons why I am writing this.

First of all, let me say that IAHC members have produced a fine first
draft. I do have some comments about it, which I hope to cover in
future e-mails (quite a lot of them already covered by other folks).

In a few postings today, some folks were implying that IAHC is standing
pat on certain matters. It seems that some of these authors believe the
veracity of their position to be more than self-evident. Whether that
is true or not is debatable. My question is, if the IAHC agrees with it,
will they come out and state that publicly.

Just to make things crystal clear, let us somebody suggests that the
waiting period should be 90 days, instead of 60 days for getting a SLD.
If IAHC sees merit in the proposal, will they wait till the January date
to acknowledge it or put out an interim statement supporting that one fact?

The reason is that I do not want "the squeaky wheel to get the grease",
so to speak.

I want to make sure that all the discussion is with respect to the
published document in the IAHC web site. Reason for this clarification
is simple. Christopher Ambler sent an e-mail with the Subject: Revised
Draft. It was mentioned in that e-mail "This document is a reworking of
the 19 December IAHC draft on the management of gTLDs. It is felt that
this document represents a compromise amongst conflicting viewpoints on
this controversial topic."

Again, without agreeing or disagreeing with that premise of "compromise",
want to clarify that the above effort is essentially futile (since
everybody else is discussing a different draft).
