   With respect, no.  We live under a rule of law, much
of which cannot be swayed by money, threats or bribes.

  Nor would I expect this commiteee to be swayed by claims that
whatever they do will be subverted by the greedy...  that
sounds perilously like a self-serving person trying to create a 
self-fullfilling prophecy.
