Sharing is currently technically viable, of this I have no doubt. There
is, however, absolutely no consensus on WHICH of many solutions to
implement, the structure of such a solution, the "who-does-what" of
such a solution, the funding of such a solution, etc.

These are issues that should be the primary goal of CORE.

But, as this may take 6-8 months to develop, test, and implement (at
best!), my solution is to allow new registrants to operate exclusive
registries in the meantime. Coupling this activity with the planned
expiration of NSI's contract with the NSF, and mandating that all
registries, including NSI, will go to the newly developed and tested
shared model at that time seem a clearly logical compromise.

As I said before, my company is willing to help in any and all ways
possible, including funding. I cannot think of anything else I can
do other than put my money where my mouth is.
