Chris...$20,000 is not, IMO, an excessive amount for a registry. From the
point of view of a company interested in obtaining a registry, the main
question is DOES THE INVESTMENT OF $20,000 MAKE GOOD BUSINESS SENSE as the
price for obtaining a registry?
If the answer is YES, then put up the $20,000.
The question of what the recipient does with the $20,000 is of no
importance. If you pay $20,000 and for that money you obtain a registry,
and the registry is worth $20,000, then it doesn't matter what happens to
the $20,000 after you pay it....anymore than it matters what a car dealer
does with your money after you buy a $20,000 car.
If anyone believes that operating a registry is not worth a $20,000 entry
fee, it would be interesting to see the sales projections in your business
plan.
