HAVE to?

Since when do you *have* to perform a public service?

But if you do, you should perform just that. A public service. Out of your
own funds, time, and potential profit that could otherwise be recognized.

And yes, this does include tangible expenses. So what?

There are ways to cut these costs down to size. Among other things the IAHC
might have done to take advantage of this include standardizing on one
platform between participants (ie: Win95, so they could use Netmeeting for
electronic conferencing -- imagine that, using the Internet for
administering itself :-)

Of course, its easier just to do things in a way that increase everyone's
cost -- as long as you can turn around and pass those costs on to others.

Its AMAZING what people will do to control costs when they have to pay
those costs out of their own pockets, and its REALLY amazing just how
functional such systems are when designed by people who not only have to
use them, but pay for them as well.
