I just did an experiment and these are the results:

  I used VI to edit a copy of the root zone file (To be fair - I
got it off of the Internic ftp site - that way there wont be a
time difference between the Alternic version and the "official (ha)"
one).

  I turned on my stopwatch and started typing 12 entries at the
end of the file - the USA and EARTH glue records.

  Stopwatch says 1 minute, 20 seconds

Now, do the math: If SAHC and SANA want $20k for this, that comes out to
$900,000 an hour.

Hey Perry - Can I come and work for you guys?? I'll take $900,000/hr!
