Charge less than the Internic, get a bunch of customers. Sure. The
people who make EVITA will still get EVITA-THEMOVIE.COM from the
Internic. But a lot of other penny pinchers and cost cutters will go for
your service. Especially if you avoid some of the pitfalls in customer
service and image that the Internic has.
If registries all compete with equal goods (ie a shared TLD) then we can
assume that the distinguishing factor will be the registry itself rather
than the TLD. And this is how it should be. TLDs are public property and
should not be monopolized by ANY one power....
Of course it is not as simple as that; ISO country TLDs are monopolized
by the government in question. So let me change TLDs to "iTLDs/gTLDs".
