In other words, if the .LAW domain is the only one of its type, "I" can
reasonably expect to find the law firm, (transcription service, arbitration
firm, etc.) which "I" seek somewhere in that domain. Substitute "casual
Internet user" for "I", and I think you'll see my point.
Thom...some feedback on your comments. As I see it, the "user" being served
is the business seeking the SLD name for its site. It should be free to
select what IT WANTS (.law, or .legal, or .atty, etc.), and should not be
forced to be pigeonholed into a TLD name that some elite body decided was
the "CORRECT" one.
There will never be the easy way to sort businesses. Even now people take
.org when they're really not a non profit. If .law were introduced, what
about law firms that already have .com?
While the concept of constraining the multitude of gTLDs from an
organizational standpoint sounds straightforward and noble, users are going
to take the gTLD names that they want...so why not offer .law, .legal,
.atty, and any other gTLD for which there is demand?
