Kevin, you display an astonishing lack of knowledge of Irish law. In your
country the trees do not neccessarily belong to the landowner.

In fact the UK has similar laws regarding trees.

Analogies are a fine thing when they help illuminate the problem but they
are worse than useless when they get stretched so thin.
