The former, to be sure. DNS is not another advertising medium, although it
is often treated as such. Perhaps I should say that it is not ONLY another
advertising medium, and SHOULDN'T be, but is used as such.

I think, if managed correctly, and if imposed on all parties equally,
the shared model CAN work. Obviously, an exclusive model is better
for the registrars, as it promotes incentive for better service
based on competition. I am still very much in favour of exclusivity
as the better option. But I am willing to compromise.
