Re: Commerce department Requirements Munitions

Simon, Perry and IAHC members,

Let me preface what I am about to say here first.

There have been many assertions or opinions posted to this list
as to the current possition of IAHC Members from alot of sources
on this list representing diffrent possitions with respect to
DNS managment and TLD issues. They seem to me to represent a
pretty good cross section of the Internet world. It would
be premature for a "Final" possition for any IAHC member to
post at this time. Though I think the idea of a "Consensus"
is problamatic at best, depending on whom makes the decision
as to what is a "Consensus" and on what parts of the draft
their is a "Stated" consensus on. Possibly a diffrent process
would be in order here.

This would be to use the process of taking each part of the
draft and discussing it's points (Which is already being done)
and than deciding at some point (Defined by the monitor of
this list) to takd a vote on weather that section (as it is
currently in the draft) should be modified or excepted in it's
present form. This would permote and eliviate many fears and
concerns of many on this list is believe and would provide a
more difinitive and confident attitude and approach.

Perry, I hate to say this, but Simon is partialy correct,
you have not difinitivly stated your possition reguarding
many questions and comments to this discussion or on points
of the draft where there is concern. The flip side of that
is possibly you have not reached a decision in those areas
and therefor have just not stated it on the list. This is
compleatly understandable. Simon please take note of that
possibility! If we use what I have suggested above as
a procedural matter, we can as a group, resolve matters
of contention in a much more constructive manner and most
likely end up with a final draft that everybody can live with
in addition with probably providing a better service to
ALL users.

Well I have said a mouth full so I will shut up and
wait for the responses.
