Why should anything about 3rd or 4rth level domains be available by whois
from a TLD registrar ?  All that's needed is the information about the
2LDs registered, and that's flat.  The discussion before was whether to
keep this at the central repository or at the registrars -- I don't see
any reason to try to push towards Vixie's distributed directory ideas
at this point.

My opinion is that any central repository needs to be kept as small
as possible, to avoid creating a new monopoly situation.
