He said "right there" not RIGHT. The term "right there" means "in that
place".
It is essential that lots of work happens right there in Africa but the
people who shuttle back and forth often hit the jackpot when they obtain
investors for infrastructure projects. Imagine what the effect of a
transatlantic fibre bundle from the USA to West Africa, for instance.
However this doesn't mean that people already in Africa should sit and
wait. Instead they should be buying used 8086 laptops and 2400 bps modems
from the USA, adding parallel port ZIP drives, used dot matrix printers,
UUPC software, car batteries and a bicycle generator to set up a village
post office where people can send and receive email to any part of the
world with a one day turnaround.
Or something like that....
P.S. the old Telebit 9600 bps PEP modems have a good reputation for being
able to get data through some very bad phone lines and these units are now
considered obsolete in North America.
