I don't know who sent that to you, but obviously it's not very nice.  

First of all, NetNames has never ever ever reserved or registered a domain
name for the purpose of selling it later.  I state this definitively and I
defy the scurillous coward who wrote this to say this to show his face and
produce any evidence.

Second, NetNames does not "pre-register" names.  It is not possible.  CORE
is not yet formed, there is no place where we could pre-register them even
if we wanted to.  We do take advance orders.  This means that when CORE is
accepting applications, we will put through our orders with the same chance
of getting a name for our client as any other registrar.  Our clients are
told in numerous places that there is no guarantee, that the policy will be
first-come, first-served.  You can check out our web page if you'd like at

Contrary to what your evil whisperer says, we are not discreet about our
policy at all.  We have fully explained it and it is there for the world to
see.  Other potential registrars are no doubt collecting orders privately,
and who is to know?  NetNames states its policy and is happy to explain it.

It is very hard to defend against slanderous attacks that you don't even
hear about, so I'm glad that you posted this to give me an opportunity to
