The gTLD-MoU eliminated both the limit and the lottery. Now anyone who meets
the simple qualifications will be able to operate as a registrar. Why won't
there be 100 registrars? $10K ($20K?) isn't a whole lot of money. Practically
every ISP in the USA and Canada could be registrars if they were so inclined.

No entry fee means lots of registrars, and in my opinion, mass chaos.

The Internet needs some sort of regulation, not a free-for-all "free market".
Can you imagine a domain space as screwed up as the "alt" newsgroups? How
could any sort of Internet commerce be carried out when nothing can be taken
for granted?
