I went to the shared registry design meeting in Munich on the 15th of
August, over a month ago, and I went to the meeting in New York on 4/5
September. Each of these was supposed to be a CORE meeting but wasn't.
One of the myriad problems here, the one you are talking about now,
is delay. The delay is coming from within the IAHC/PAB/POC/CORE
process, not from outside.
We now have an RFP process running without CORE being there to sign
the RFP. Would it really be at all difficult to try to recruit someone
in the same exact way? That is, it is not impossible to run a
recruitment drive before the prospective employer exists.
The prospective members of CORE should be out there looking for a strong
executive to run the organization, someone with a good Internet background,
someone actually willing to get his or her hands dirty and get
something running. Preferably someone who knows something about
software development and something about man management. Yes, I know
an ideal candidate, but he already has a job ;-)
The selection of a good executive to run CORE would give it some much-
needed credibility. The lack of any staff or prospective staff makes
it absolutely necessary to have someone else design the CORE system
and someone else run it. This lack of staff isn't a necessity, it's a
choice, and it's a bad one.
