dns hearing (fwd)




for those not able to listen to 76 min of real audio of the hearing hier
my impresions

Dr. Joseph Bordogna, Acting Deputy Director, National
Science Foundation, Arlington, VA 

he/nsf wants to go out of dns busines and nsf has the latest autority in
dealing with nsi  they will quit the contract with nsi on march with 6
month period if requayered  they want a copy of the root database 
                  
The Honorable Larry Irving, Assistant Secretary for
Communication and Information, U.S.Department of Commerce, Washington, DC

he represents the commerce departement and the administration at all -the
government interagency group    they would prepare a transion plan for the
time between quiting with nsi and new system working  in 1 month and 
forward it to the administration   he was very nice full in favor of
privat ledership for the process of dns and internet selfgovernance and
agiainst the governement elswhere runing the internet  the commerce
departement may be the closest government agency involvt in the internet
governance from the side of the government but they are nice people full
beyond the iahc-ipoc plan  great

he is dificult to describe  he was not in limelight but in background he
runs the things  he continues to lead the process of establishement of the
new system  


Mr. Gabriel A. Battista, Chief Executive Office,
Nextwork Solutions Incorporated, Herndon, VA 

his main point was the success the nsi hase in runing and establishing
the tld com org net registration and administration  and he was
stressing on stability of the wholle system for the future and he is in 
favor of a privat economie solution for the new system 

the chairman was much into the point of transition

nechst hering will be on tusday the 30 sept.
