I am forwarding below, from another list, what I believe to be a
astute posting on Jeff and his fantasies :-)

Cheers,

Another possibility is that you are deluded.

Jeff, I don't care if you really are a lawyer or not. I don't care
who you work for, where you live, or what you might try to hide. I
wouldn't care at all what fantasies you care to live under, if you
actually made worthwhile contributions to this or any other of the
lists that you haunt. But you don't. Instead, you produce barely
coherent rambles interspersed in large volumes of quoted text. It's
got to the point where the volume of noise words in your posts is
simply too great to make it worthwhile to look for anything
meaningful. The only mildly interesting thing left is poking at your
obvious deceptions.

And you are right: it is an unkind and unprofessional thing for people
to poke at you like this. It would be much more humane and polite to
humor you, and pretend that you were a serious person, instead of the
sad, strange mask we see.

But it is your choice that makes you a mask. You have constructed a
fake persona with no easily verifiable real person behind it -- you
could be, for all we know, a clever AI bot programmed to consume
bandwidth on these mailing lists.

Mr Wilf refers to an "online community". Such communities form,
ultimately, because there are real people involved. People get to
know each other, some of them meet face to face, little bits of
personality get swapped.

But you are not part of this. You can't afford to expose any real
details from your life, because your whole web of deception would
collapse.

Jeff. *Nobody* believes them. People tolerate your transparent
deceptions, that's all.

You argue that who you are doesn't matter; that your opinions should
stand on their own. That's a theory that doesn't hold in practice.
People always correlate opinions with characteristics of those who
hold those opinions -- this is an automatic psychological process. A
lack of integrity in one area creates suspicion about integrity in
other areas. Your inability or unwillingness to support your
statements about your experience, training, and education seriously
undermine any credibility you might enjoy.

The bottom line: fair or not, the burden of proof is on *you*.
