 solutionfrombeyondallthesefreakingwastedyears?!?!

 1. Get together a bunch of parties Interested in
    competing with Internic in the DNS game. These
    may be strictly business or non-profit.

 2. Agree on financing, terms/conditions and articles
    of incorporation, association or charitable charter.

 3. Ally yourselves with a significant technological,
    financial and other interested partners.

 4. Go into business ASAP.

 Why all this interminable bullshit? I
 advised my Alternate Domain friends to
 launch real live, full-blown, heavy duty,
 24/7/365 Domain Name Registration and
 Root Servers worldwide an infinity ago.
 And still they fuck around trying to find
 that TLD never-never land. 

 Just go and do it and shut up. Far easier
 to explain something that is as opposed
 to perpetually discussing something that
 ain't, isn't, is not, may never be. Do. It.
 Or go away and stop bugging us all.

 BTW I want to start FREENIC or some such 
 variation. Anyone who is also interested
