Mark Goodge replied:
:So? That's no different to the current situation where we would be
:forced into the US courts to contest anything. The jurisdiction has
:to be somewhere - it doesn't really matter too much which country it
:is, so long as it's one that has a good legal framework for regulating
:commerce. Switzerland has an excellent legal framework for regulating
:commerce - that's one of the reasons why many multinational
:organisations are based there.
If there were a treaty on Internet
governance signed by most nations
one could stroll down to the local
constabulary to press charges or to
our courts and sue within regional
jurisdictions. And, since the vast
majority of Internet addresses and
users are located in North America
that would *not* be freaking Switzerland
but in Spokane, Baton Rouge, Hyannis
Port, Red Deer, Wawa or wherever.
By the way the Swiss can't seem to
find billions of dollars deposited
in good faith by tens of thousands
of innocent families who fled the
Halocaust. Which is to say Swiss law
and order is as prone as any to abuse
and corruption. So let's just cut all
this cookoo clock impartiality Swiss
efficiency nonsense. What CORE has
done is thrown the whole issue of our
global Domain Name Space and Internet
governance from the American pan to
the Euro fire. We lose either way.
Al: Clock in or you're saying you've
clocked out...
