Andy,
I heard your further ravings on CNET the other night. The next time you
wish to cast yourself as an expert on things you know nothing about, you
should at least correct the following errors you made in your five minutes
of fame:
1. No-one can start up a .TV top-level domain, because it already exists.
It is the top-level domain of Tuvalu.
2. .TO is the TLD of Tonga, not Toga
3. .NU, the TLD for Niue, has been operational for months, not since "last
week." What's more, it's been well publicized. I would have thought you'd
at least read the press.
As a Washington lobbyist with no connection to the actual workings of the
DNS, it is not surprising that you are "eagerly awaiting" a paper from the
White House that by all accounts would "temporarily" remove authority over
DNS from IANA, where it has always been, to the U.S. Government, where
ill-informed "experts", such as yourself, have more weight than the people
who made the Internet great.
The Internet has flowered without government regulation. It won't be
improved by governance by people who meet with lobbyists all day. Just
leave it alone.
Antony
P.S. I am still waiting for the report you promised me on the meeting you
had in July. No mail, which you promised, nothing on your website, which
you promised. What happened?
