Dear Sirs,

I believe your logic is flawed.

The first reaction to expanding the number of gTLDs is that first
everyone will race to register their domain name in each new gTLD and
then race to acquire their competitors names or large corporate names in
each gTLD. This won't serve to solve the problem, only to exacerbate it.
It will be less than a month before we are right back where we started
with the only outcome being that people who are authorized to register
domains (notably Network Solutions) making a pile of money.

I think the simple solution is to create one new gTLD, .tm (e.g.,
mycompany.tm) that is automatically assigned upon completing the
trademark registration process, and retroactively given to everyone who
currently has their business name trademarked.

This would solve a lot of problems.

Another viable solution would be to have domain names be numerical and
tied to phone numbers with gTLD of .bus for businesses or .res for
residential numbers. Since each individual and company already has been
assigned these unique numbers (e.g., 8006483530.bus or 9144275798.res),
they are in a format everyone recognizes, and there are a multitude of
directories and directory services that can provide the information
already in place. When a business or individual is assigned a phone
number, the corresponding domain name is also assigned. The added
benefit of this system is that the country code, city code, area code,
and prefix will help give some geographical definition to the Web.

Additionally, since in many cases phone companies are already service
providers, or at least possess the technology to be service providers,
this would be a simple transition. An added benefit would be that
businesses would not have to reprint marketing materials, as it soon
would be common knowledge that you just "type in their phone number" to
reach their web site.

Just my two cents. I really fear the pandimonium you will cause by just
increasing the number of meaningless gTLDs instead of finding a viable
solution.
