1. Number of gTLDs
Generally, how many new gTLDs do you think should be created?
***[1-10] ... at first]
C. CHOICE OF gTLDS
1. Review of IAHC-Suggested gTLDs
How would you rate each of the following gTLD names selected by the IAHC?
a) .firm (intended for businesses, or firms), check one of the below:
***[approve]
...
Considering above, would you still prefer to have legal term gTLDs?
***[no]
...
b) .store (for businesses offering goods to purchase), check one of the
below:
***[disapprove]
...
Do you think .store should be replaced by .shop?
***[yes]
c) .web (for entities emphasizing activities related to the World Wide
Web), check one of the below:
***[disapprove]
If you disapprove or strongly disapprove, what gTLD would you suggest in
place of .web in this category?
***[no specific category - The Web is a rather temporary technology that
will evolve quickly into ...? - .net seems actually sufficient a long as
it's rather open, despite theoretical policy - by the way, I think that it
would be better to forget these theoretical policies, but it's out of
gTLD-MoU concern as long as NSI is in charge of it]
d) .arts (for entities emphasizing cultural and entertainment activities),
check one of the below:
***[approve]
...
e) .rec (for entities emphasizing recreation/entertainment activities),
check one of the below:
***[approve]
...
f) .info (for entities providing information services), check one of the
below:
***[approve]
...
g) .nom (for those wishing individual or personal nomenclature, i.e., a
personal nom de plume), check one of the below:
***[disapprove]
If you disapprove or strongly disapprove, what gTLD would you suggest in
place of .nom in
this category?
***[.people]
There have been suggestions that in order to improve the scaleability of
the .nom name space, a numerical identifier should be added to the .nom
gTLD from the outset (e.g, .nom1, .nom2, .nom3, etc.) Do you agree?
***[no]
...
Comment:
***[People are not names nor numbers, they are people - It's important to
symbolize that, despite the cost of hiting a few more keys on the keyboard
- This category could host communities too and provide an alternative to
.org - This TLD should be systematically implemented with generic SLDs; the
first(s) alphabetical character(s) of the name could be used as mnemonic SLDs]
2. Creation of gTLD Indicating Adult-Oriented Content
There is often the suggestion made that a dedicated gTLD indicating the
equivalent to a "red-light-zone" would be useful in isolating and filtering
adult-oriented content from minors on the Internet. There are differing
opinions on how effective this would be. The most common suggestion is the
request to create a gTLD .xxx. Do you think that a sort of "red-light-zone"
gTLD should be created?
***[strongly disapprove]
...
If you have replied "no", what gTLD would you suggest in place of .xxx in
this category?
***[no specific category that might turn as some sort of ghetto - .rec,
.art, .shop, .firm, etc... are ok for that - too difficult to enforce anyway]
3. Other Suggestions
Please make any other suggestion concerning the names of the new gTLDs not
covered above.
***[.educ would give a place to educational entities not belonging to a
specific nation and to private initiatives. These would actually go into
.org, but a specific generic domain might have interesting effects on
opening national educational systems to the world at large and create mixes
- In the long term, .edu, .gov and .mil should become SLDs under .us]
***[.misc for those who like to be outside of categories and those who
belong to many categories]
