As Perry notes, there are those who prefer not to use the web for this 
purpose, me among them.  Email access is available in many 
circumstances when web access is not.

Modern mail clients support threads quite handily.  I recommend 
"mutt" -- freely available on Unix platforms.

The messages are archived on the web.  I have an archive on my pab 
site (www.songbird.com/pab), and there is an archive available from 
the MoU site.
